Second ship of the Carnival Conquest serie evolved from the highly successful design of the Carnival Destiny (1996). The Conquest serie based on “Destiny” design is extended by adding half a deck of cabins at the forepart, and lengthened by about 15 metres.

Febr. 14-2010 Carnival Glory has emerged from a multi-week makeover that saw the addition of an adults-only retreat area and a giant 270 sq.feet poolside LED screen. The ship also got a new Circle "C" facility for 12- to 14- year olds, 18 new balcony cabins (made by reconfiguring existing ocean view cabins) and a new Mongolian wok station at its casual poolside restaurant. Bow-to-stern Wi-Fi access was added, as well.

March 2010 -Carnival Glory get Rolls-Royce propulsion system Promas Lite, combining propeller and rudder. Preliminary analysis of speed/power trials measurements indicates an increased propulsive efficiency improvement by 11-13 %, reports Rolls-Royce. The selection of the Promas Lite system came as a result of close cooperation between Carnival and Rolls-Royce Marine Services and after extensive laboratory testing at Rolls-Royce Hydrodynamic Research Centre in Sweden. This resulted in an optimized Promas Lite design tailor made to fit the actual operational profile of Carnival Glory.A new twin 5.8mtr Promas Lite propulsion system was installed during the ship’s regular dry docking at Grand Bahama Shipyard last month. The new propeller-rudder system replaces the old five-bladed mono-block propellers with modern four-bladed Rolls-Royce propellers with bolted blades, hub caps and rudder bulbs, optimized for maximum fuel efficiency and emission reduction.
