|Jan. 2015 The TUI Group purchases the cruise ship Europa 2 for €278 million, taking a strategically and commercially important investment decision for the Group and its Hamburg-based subsidiary Hapag-Lloyd Kreuzfahrten. It consists of a cash component of around € 67 million payable to the previous owner and the assumption of € 211 million. By purchasing TUI saves annually ca.€ 27 million on the charter costs.The previous owner was Omison SA of the 83-year-old German Industrial Otto Mihm lives in Switzerland.|
|As part of its first scheduled docking, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ EUROPA 2 underwent technical maintenance at Blohm + Voss in Hamburg from April 11-24, 2015. At the same time, cosmetic repairs and modernization work were carried out on board: the Sansibar and the Sushi Restaurant Sakura were fully redesigned and the eight family apartments were renovated to be even more family friendly. The full list comprised approximately 700 changes and improvements.|
Oct. 2017 During its second scheduled docking period since its launch in 2013 at Blohm + Voss in Hamburg from 13 to 27 September 2017, the look, technology and concept of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ ship EUROPA 2 have been updated. This has included redesigning the Belvedere lounge on Deck 9 and the Herrenzimmer bar on Deck 4. The Spa area has also received its own beauty treatment. The full list of changes comprises approximately 1,000 points.
