Contract is terminated at the end of October 2011. At a shipyard in Singapore, she returns to her Hurtigruten outfit.  Finnmarken returns to the standard route  Bergen-Kirkeness on febr. 16-2012.

The new generation of ships will be larger and more luxurious than the 1990's vessels. They will have 40% more cabins and 50% more deck space than the 1990's vessels. The number of suites will increase dramatically, from two suites on the older ships to 14 on the Finnmarken, all with private balcony. In coastal voyage tradition, these working ships will be floating art galleries that showcase Norwegian paintings, sculpture and textiles. The Finnmarken's interior, which will be decorated by 11 Norwegian artists, will be in Jugend style (Art Nouveau) that recalls the elegance of the first coastal ships in the 1890s. She will be the first Hurtigruten ship with an indoor/outdoor cafe, a wine bar, a swimming pool, racquet court and gym. Other facilities include two panoramic lounges, a 340-seat restaurant, main bar, club room, arcades with chairs and tables and four conference rooms. Four cabins will be accessible by wheelchair.
