Aquired may 2007 from Orient Line/NCL -  hand-over in Lisboa march 2008.

Global Cruise Lines paid an extra fee to NCL in order to keep the ship's previous name of MARCO POLO.
Ship will be Charter to Transocean Cruises. - Germany. Until Jan. 2010 Due to bankruptcy of Transocean nov.2009 ship laid - up in Germany - From 2010 on Charter for 5 years option to new UK based cruiseline  CRUISE & MARITIME

Second ship of the Ivan Franko - class. The other four ships of this class are Ivan Franko, Shota Rustavelli, Taras Shevchenko are already scrapped. IVAN FRANKO. SHOTA RUSTAVELI. TARAS SHEVCHENKO. MIKHAIL LERMONTOV.of this class are already scrapped. The Mikhail Lermontov  sunk in 1972 at the coast of New Zealand. Ships original built for Baltic Shipping Company for trans-Atlantic service.
Sold in 1991 to Shipping & General Ltd. - UK ( Mr. Gerry Herrod) and renamed in Marco Polo. Converted in 1991 at Neorian and Perama Shipyards-Greece.  Mr. Herrod start a new venture as Orient Line. Norwegian Cruise Line aquired in 1998 both the ship and the company Orient Line.

20 -02-09 Bremerhaven’s Lloyd Werft is to carry out the refit of German operator Transocean Tour’s 848 passenger capacity Marco Polo. The work package on the 1966-built vessel includes the fitting of new diesel generators, plus the refurbishment of the vessel’s outer decks, cabins and restaurants. Due to bankrupcty of Transocean on oct.2009 charter ended nov. 2009. Start operations for British CRUISE & MARITIME Services jan.2010
