| Jan.7-2012 the
MSC Poesia ran aground
off Grand Bahama Island. The Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association (BASRA)
reported that the ship apparently sustained no damages from the
incident. According to BASRA, officials waited until about 6PM Bahamas
time for the tide to rise, and then utilized four tugs to pull the ship
free. The reef suffered extensive damage.

This is not the first time the
MSC Poesia
has been in the news. Just two months after she was
launched in 2008, MSC Poesia
and
Costa Classica collided in the Adriatic
Sea near Dubrovnik. There was minimal damage with no one hurt. Cause of
the collision was that the MSC
Poesia's anchor became loose and she
drifted into the Costa Classica.
