May 28-2010 Sold for scrap to Chinese interests arrived near Shanghai after a long and secret journey.
Saga Rose, which sailed her final cruise for Saga Shipping last year, has been sold, confirms the UK operator. who says the price remains confidential and that it will not be making any announcements on the disposal. The ship is at anchor upriver from Shanghai. Close at Changjiang Ship Recycling Yard, China’s largest ship dismantling facility. It is clear that the final destination is for scrap.
December 6 - 2009 Saga Rose arrived today in Southampton.  To conclude her career with Saga Holidays after a  farewell cruise season. The 1965-built vessel will destore some fittings and is scheduled to depart early Monday evening. No further information is yet available, but it is presumed with no announcements that her next destination may be Alang for scrap.Situation april 2019 Saga Holidays has not released any sort of official statement about the ship’s possible charter or sale. Originally, it seems the vessel  to have been sold to West African interests to become an accommodation ship following her retirement last December.

Former names:   Sagafjord orginal built for Norwegian -America Line completed in 1965. In 1980 transferred to Norwegian -American Cruises (owned by NAL). NAC aquired by Trafalgar House (Cunard) in 1983. In 1996 chartered to Transocean Tours and renamed as Gripsholm and in 1997 sold to Saga Shipping as Saga Rose.

On January 5 -2009, Saga Rose will make cruising history when she departs for her 44th around the world cruise. This cruise will secure her place in the record books by completing more world trips than any other – including the QE2
