Short History:
0kt.-2008 Carnival UK has announced that it is rationalising its portfolio with the phasing out of the Ocean Village brand, beginning in Autumn 2009. Consistent with Carnival’s strategy of investing in brands which show the greatest growth potential, both Ocean Village ships will transfer to the P&O Cruises Australia brand, the Ocean Village-Two (new name: Pacific Jewel) in time for Christmas 2009 and the Ocean Village (new name not announced yet) a year later.

Jan.28-2009 Carnival UK’s Ocean Village will be renamed Pacific Pearl when she transfers to P&O Cruises Australia’s fleet at the end of 2010. Pacific Pearl which will carry around 2,000 passengers, will be refurbished before she is deployed Down Under.

Nov.13-2010 Sembawang Shipyard in Singapore get the order for the major refurbishment of the Ocean Village into Pacific Pearl. It will include the addition of Pacific Pearl’s “Big Screen” on its pool deck, the creation of a new Salt Grill by Luke Mangan, new bars and lounges and the creation of a new Aqua HealthSpaFitness. Following the three-week drydock, Pacific Pearl will make her way to Auckland for her official naming on December 21, 2010.

2015 Pacific Pearl will become the latest ship in P&O Cruises’ fleet to offer guests an extra dose of holiday adrenaline, following the addition of the popular P&O Edge Adventure Park as part of a major refurbishment next month.
The new P&O Edge Adventure Park will feature more than 15 great activities including a surfboard simulator offering guests the chance to hang ten on the decks, as well as favourites such as the bungy tramp, flying fox and walk the plank.

March 4 - 2016 P&O Cruises Australia today announced a commercial arrangement has been reached to transfer Pacific Pearl from its fleet as part of an ongoing fleet expansion and renewal program.The popular ship will be farewelled from the fleet in April 2017. By then, Pacific Pearl will have completed 294 separate cruises under the P&O Cruises‟ banner and will have carried more than half a million passengers over a period of more than five years‟ service. Pacific Pearl will be transferred to a new fleet in April 2017. At their request, details of the new operators will remain confidential.
