Paradise Cruise Line’s will rename the Costa neoClassica as Grand Classica.

2014 -Refurbishment to Costa neo Classica  less invasive than sister ship Costa neo Romantica. No extra deck and no additional outside cabins

Oct.10-2010 COSTA CLASSICA had collision with another ship near Shanghai last night when returning to Shanghai from Cheju.
The accident might have been resulted from a possible power shortage on the Costa Classica. Her reposition cruise to Hongkong departing Oct.18 today is cancelled and probable the upcoming cruises will also be affected.

The news outlet says several passengers reported to the infirmary with minor injuries. Three passengers were sent ashore for further medical checks.
The Costa Classica has been repaired at a shipyard in Changxing, China in just 96 hours, according to media reports from the region. It is unclear if  the 60 damaged staterooms are in service. The Classica will set sail on her next scheduled departure as planned, on October 23 from Hongkong.
July,19-1997, the Costa Classica was grounded, with 1500 passengers on board, in Kythira, Greece, due to strong winds that broke the ship's anchors. With tug assistance, she was refloated on july 20 and, after an inspection of the hull, she continued the cruise.
Dec. 23-2014 A fire broke out in the funnel aboard Costa Cruises’ recently relaunched COSTAneoCLASSICA  while sailing in the Red Sea. No injuries were reported. The fire was extinguished and the ship was operating normally as it docked in Aqaba on Dec. 24. The company said damage was confined to the external part of the funnel, but an investigation into the cause is underway. The ship is awaiting clearance from Classification Society and Maritime Authority officers, so the departure from Aqaba is expected to be delayed slightly. However, arrival in Eliat was still expected at 6 a.m. local time Dec. 25. The company said shipboard personnel quickly extinguished the fire, which was detected at about 9:25 p.m. Italy time while the ship was en route to Aqaba."The safety of guests and crew was never put at risk and no injury was reported," Costa said.
