March 3-2019 Several people were injured after the NORWEGIAN ESCAPE cruise ship was blasted by what the cruise line called a “sudden, extreme gust of wind, estimated at 100 knots.” The powerful wind caused the ship to tilt on its left side, or, in nautical terms, its port side, when the wind struck just before midnight on Sunday. The ship was at the beginning of a seven-night cruise out of New York City and was en route to its first stop, Port Canaveral on Central Florida’s Atlantic Coast, according to reports from cruise industry bloggers.Several injuries were reported and those guests and crew received immediate attention or are being treated by the ship’s medical staff. There was no damage to the ship; she remains fully operational and continues her scheduled itinerary.
Passenger space ratio all berths: 38.7
Guy Harvey, widely recognised as the world’s finest marine wildlife artist and champion of ocean conservation, has design the hull artwork of the line’s largest ship to date Norwegian Escape hull artwork which features an underwater scene of marine wildlife.
